Database Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team at St. Charles Community College. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for the administration, architecture, and maintenance of our Unidata and MS SQL Server databases.

• Install and manage MS SQL servers in a high-availability environment.
• Ensure the security, reliability, and integrity of all databases.
• Review and implement requests for changes to database architecture.
• Analyze and troubleshoot system and database performance.
• Assist end-users in developing and using database reporting tools.
• Manage and provide capacity planning.
• Monitor database server performance and health.
• Create and administer a proper database backup strategy.
• Configure and tune MS SQL server on current and future versions of Microsoft server operating systems.
• Oversee and perform upgrades, conversions, and deployments.
• Write technical documentation for internal IT audiences.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline plus four years of relevant experience.
• Experience with implementations, upgrades, and patching databases.
• Proficiency in developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing SQL.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting ability.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to learn new technologies and work in a fast-paced environment.
