Position Overview
This role involves working with patients experiencing cardiac and pulmonary conditions across various environments. The position includes a range of responsibilities related to cardiac imaging and rehabilitation services. The specialist will create personalized exercise prescriptions tailored to each patient's needs. The focus is on promoting physical activity to help patients regain their pre-event fitness levels. Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts fitness and lifestyle evaluations. Responsible for crafting exercise prescriptions, providing instructions, and continuously reassessing activity levels until patient discharge.
  • May deliver educational sessions to patients about the significance of exercise and increased physical activity, as well as how to monitor their own activity, including understanding indications and contraindications.
  • Monitors patients during exercise sessions, assesses equipment requirements, and offers recommendations to management.
  • Performs relevant chart reviews to establish suitable activity levels and communicates plans to other healthcare providers.
  • Identifies the need for interdisciplinary referrals and acts accordingly.
  • Documents patients' physical activities, vital signs, and clinical responses accurately.
  • Provides patients with appropriate self-monitoring tools.
  • May conduct various stress tests, including routine treadmill stress tests, nuclear stress tests, and stress echocardiography.
  • May prepare studies for interpretation and assign them to the appropriate physician.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, including discharge planning, and contributes to the collection of outcome data.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.
  • Preferred 2 years of relevant experience.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
  • N/A
Additional Skills and Experience
  • Certification may be necessary based on job responsibilities.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Exhibits clinical competency appropriate to the patient's age.
