Job Summary

Emory Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Wound Care Specialist to join our team. As a Registered Nurse with expertise in wound care, ostomy care, and continence care, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and advancing our organization's commitment to wound prevention and management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive wound care plans for patients with complex wounds, including pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and venous ulcers.
  • Provide advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff on wound care best practices, including debridement, dressing changes, and wound assessment.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement evidence-based protocols for wound prevention and management.
  • Conduct educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory University's Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.
  • Perform pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education for patients undergoing ostomy surgery.
  • Develop and conduct post-operative ostomy education and care plans for patients and their families.
Requirements
  • Valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
  • Two years of recent (within the past five years) Registered Nursing experience.
  • Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program.
  • Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months.
  • Certification in Continence Care is not required, but preferred.
  • Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS may be required on some units.
