About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Support Specialist to join our patient care team at Concentra. As a vital member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our patients and contributing to our mission of improving the health of America's workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine medical and testing procedures under direct supervision of the treating clinician, ensuring efficient and accurate delivery of one-on-one patient care.
- Support registration and referral management, as well as other areas of the facility as needed.
- Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing.
- Perform rapid screening tests, assist providers during examination and treatment, and prepare and assist clinicians with procedure setup and injury care.
- Apply bandages, dressings, and splints as ordered by the treating clinician, dispense medications and DME as ordered, and complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices.
- Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms, as well as notify supervisors immediately if equipment is not functioning properly or supplies are needed.
- Partner with center leadership to assist with patient flow and volume, keep patients informed of expected wait times, and perform front office duties, including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, and communicating wait times.
- Ensure accuracy in documentation, follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules, and attend center staff meetings or huddles as required.
- Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility and complete any applicable training, including clinical competency training.
Qualifications
- Education Level: Vocational/Technical/Business School Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with completion of an externship highly preferred, or at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant, or military medical specialist experience (must meet credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations).
- Job-Related Experience: Customarily has at least six months or more of medical assistant experience, knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminology, and working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred.
- Job-Related Skills/Competencies: Concentra Core Competencies of Service Mentality, Attention to Detail, Sense of Urgency, Initiative, and Flexibility, ability to make decisions or solve problems by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutions, outstanding customer service skills, and ability to deal with people in a manner which shows tact and professionalism.
Additional Requirements
- Must participate in initial and ongoing training as required, obtain all certifications required of Medical Support Specialists, including but not limited to Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, Hair and Oral Fluids Collection, and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and entry of data into various systems/applications.
