Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Virginia Community College System. This is a part-time position that requires a high level of independence and self-motivation.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain campus facilities, including performing general maintenance duties, painting, drywall repairs, masonry, plumbing repairs, and assisting with set-up for events
  • Assist faculty, staff members, and the public as needed
  • Complete job assignments without close supervision
  • Work on limited holidays, limited nights, and limited weekends as assigned
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Knowledge of general maintenance and trades, commercial grounds keeping, and commercial cleaning
  • Experience in various skilled trades, commercial grounds keeping, and commercial cleaning
  • Ability to operate a wide variety of power equipment, grounds equipment, and custodial equipment
  • Ability to lift and move furniture, supplies, and equipment (50 lbs. minimum)
  • Ability to climb extension ladders for maintenance and trades
  • Ability to work without close supervision
Working Conditions

This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and may require exposure to hazardous materials.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $15 per hour.
