Job Opportunity

The Department of Management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech invites applications for multiple Professor of Practice faculty positions to begin in the near future. These are restricted academic year (9 months) positions, and renewable. The faculty member will teach a variety of courses, engage in curriculum development and enrichment efforts, and provide mentoring and career advising to students. The faculty member will also serve on departmental, college, or university committees, conduct digital marketing of the department's programs, and engage students and recruiters through social media. Professors of Practice are expected to interact with industry professionals and remain active in their professions in ways that contribute to their university assignments.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should have (1) a master's degree in business or a closely related field; (2) demonstrated effectiveness in the delivery of business instruction; (3) ability to teach courses in two or more of the following areas: international business, business analytics, entrepreneurship, corporate innovation, project management, human resource management, leadership, managerial consulting, strategic management, and business ethics; (4) demonstrated engagement with the business community; (5) strong interpersonal and communication skills; (6) the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts of the college and university.

Preferred Qualifications

(1) Professional experience in higher-level management positions; (2) ability to teach a wide range of courses in the areas listed above as well as in innovation, emerging technologies, and general management; (3) experience in leading interdisciplinary teams; and (4) experience in entrepreneurship, corporate innovation, technology commercialization, project management, business development, and career advising.
