Job Summary:

Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing routine and specialized diagnostic radiological procedures, including invasive procedures, to confirm or deny required treatment. This role requires independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of the radiologist.

Key Responsibilities:

Performs mammographic exams in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of medical imaging to assigned patients of all ages.

Exhibits competency in performing mammographic procedures, including invasive mammographic guided procedures such as stereo/Tomo biopsy, galactogram, localization procedures, specimen imaging, and specimens from Histology.

Knowledgeable about views required for each exam and uses proper compression to enhance image quality.

Obtains accurate histories and explains rationale for procedure to patients/families, protecting patient privacy as much as possible.

Completes a minimum of 200 mammography procedures/year and maintains working knowledge of equipment to function in multiple areas of mammography.

Reports equipment problems through appropriate channels and maintains clean work area, checking and stocking all supplies in their specific area and verifying pertinent accessories assigned to that room.

Performs daily, weekly, and monthly QC/QA tests and maintains a safe environment for patients and personnel, ensuring a productive learning environment.

Requirements:

Associate's Degree in the field of Radiology required.

License-IEMA Radiography and Radiography (R)(ARRT) Mammography (M)(ARRT) BLS w/ 30 days required.

Basic reading, writing, oral English skills, accountability, multicultural sensitivity, customer/patient-focused, basic computer knowledge, critical thinking skills, and ability to respond appropriately to customer/co-worker interaction required.
