- Create personalized care strategies that focus on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and wellness objectives in partnership with healthcare providers.
- Injury Prevention and Patient Education:
- Develop and execute injury prevention initiatives for patients, particularly those participating in sports or physical activities.
- Instruct patients on proper techniques, body mechanics, and safety measures to mitigate injury risks.
- Offer advice on nutrition, conditioning, and lifestyle practices that enhance overall health and physical performance.
- Rehabilitation and Therapeutic Support:
- Implement therapeutic exercises, modalities, and manual therapy methods to facilitate injury recovery and enhance mobility.
- Track patient progress throughout the rehabilitation journey and modify care strategies as necessary to ensure the best results.
- Work alongside physical therapists and other specialists to deliver comprehensive rehabilitation services.
- Care Coordination and Communication:
- Act as a bridge between patients, physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare providers to ensure cohesive care.
- Effectively communicate with patients and their families to keep them updated on care strategies, progress, and any required adjustments.
- Documentation and Record Management:
- Thoroughly document patient evaluations, care strategies, progress notes, and any interventions conducted.
- Maintain current records in the electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring adherence to healthcare regulations and standards.
- Support for Athletic Teams and Active Individuals:
- Collaborate with athletic teams, educational institutions, or community organizations to provide on-site care, injury assessments, and emergency response during events or practices.
- Design and implement conditioning programs tailored to the unique needs of athletes or active individuals.
- Health and Wellness Advocacy:
- Encourage overall health and wellness through community outreach, workshops, and wellness initiatives.
- Promote healthy lifestyle choices and the significance of regular physical activity.
- Certification: Valid certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) from the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
- Licensure: State licensure as required.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in athletic training, kinesiology, or a related discipline; a master's degree may be preferred or mandated by certain employers.
- Experience: Background in athletic training, sports medicine, or a related field; experience in care management or rehabilitation is advantageous.
- Knowledge: Profound understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy, injury prevention, rehabilitation methodologies, and physical fitness.
- Technology Skills: Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and other healthcare technology tools.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities for engaging with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Interpersonal Skills: Capacity to build rapport with patients and inspire adherence to care strategies.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities to evaluate injuries, formulate treatment plans, and adapt strategies based on patient progress.
A background check is a prerequisite for this position.
