Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian to join our team at the City of Billings. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for providing a variety of professional library services and programs to support the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and implement library policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical and functional supervision to lower-level staff and volunteers.
  • Develop and implement programs and services to meet the needs of patrons.
  • Manage the library's collection of materials, including print, audiovisual, and digital formats.
  • Perform circulation duties, including checking books in and out, registering patrons, and updating patron accounts.
  • Maintain public and staff areas of the library, including material and resource recovery and cleanup.
  • Process requests for interlibrary loans and maintain statistics on loans and requests.
  • Actively participate in updating websites and social media platforms for the library.
  • Produce digital promotional materials for publications, websites, and social media.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Library Science or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • A Montana Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with city government and knowledge of department or function operations.
Working Conditions

This position requires physical effort lifting up to 25 pounds and pushing up to 200 pounds on a wheeled cart approximately 25% of the time. It also requires high attention to detail or deadlines 75% of the time.
