Department Overview
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research oversees and supports UNC-Chapel Hill's $1 billion research enterprise, enabling research endeavors for faculty, students, and scholars. The office encourages interdisciplinary research collaboration across campus and fosters expansion and diversification of the University's sponsored research portfolio by collaborating with foundations, federal agencies, corporations, and state governments.
Job Description
This posting is for four identical positions. Candidates will be expected to build an extramurally funded research program, contribute to department and University service, teaching, and clinical service according to relevant departmental expectations. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated expertise in areas such as neuroengineering, biomolecular data science and drug discovery, clinical-translational psychiatry, and health behavior.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain a clinical research program related to alcohol and/or substance abuse and dependence* Build an extramurally funded research program* Contribute to department and University service, teaching, and clinical service* Collaborate with participating departments to advance SUD treatment* Teach at the graduate and undergraduate level in areas related to biomedical engineering and neuroengineering
Required Qualifications
* Ph.D. or M.D. in an appropriate field of study* Excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level* Ability to build an extramurally funded research program and support a significant percent of salary from grants after an initial period* Demonstrated expertise in areas such as neuroengineering, biomolecular data science and drug discovery, clinical-translational psychiatry, and health behavior* Strong core expertise in machine learning and AI
