Job Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will lead the design and delivery of aerospace and flight-worthy structures, mechanisms, and mechanical products and systems. This role will support the engineering staff in all aspects of mechanical design from concept to development, validation, and detailed design, requiring a fair amount of autonomy and hands-on activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, develop, and design structures, mechanisms, and mechanical systems in accordance with customer requirements and customary standards
  • Perform required calculations, analysis, and comprehensive tolerance stack-up analyses
  • Support the engineering group while leading in all aspects of mechanical design
  • Lead design efforts on systems and sub-systems, often on multiple programs simultaneously
  • Support proposal, quick-turn concept design, and presentation efforts through CAD models and illustrations

Requirements:

  • B.S. or M.S. Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Typically possesses 6+ years aerospace and/or defense experience, including exposure to electromechanical systems
  • Proven experience in leading product development tests, including qualification test series
  • Proficient in the use of data acquisition systems and instrumentation
  • Background and experience with heat transfer, structural analysis, dynamics/kinematics, advanced high-strength materials, CAD, and machine design
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, and experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and hold or be able to obtain a DoD SECRET clearance
