Job Summary

As a Court Recorder, you will serve as a confidential secretary, administrative aide, and official court recorder under the supervision of a District or Circuit Court Judge. This role requires coordinating and managing the daily operations of a judicial office, typing and processing correspondence, judicial opinions, and other court documents. You will also utilize and maintain electronic recording equipment to record and transcribe all court proceedings.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Two years of college or technical school training in office administration, paralegal, or related field
  • Three years of full-time progressively responsible clerical experience in a court system or legal office setting
  • Certification as an Electronic Court Recorder by the Michigan Supreme Court within six months of employment

Work Environment

This role is generally sedentary, with occasional mobility to work in an office and court setting. You will occasionally lift and carry up to thirty-five pounds, and have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, as well as hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. You will work within the offices of the District or Circuit Court.
