Histology Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technologist to join our team at RWJBarnabas Health. As a Histology Technologist, you will be responsible for preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by pathologists. This is a per diem position with variable shifts.

• Prepare tissue specimens by treating with chemicals, slicing with microtome, and placing on glass slide for microscopic examination and analysis.
• Responsible for reporting identified safety issues, such as hazardous environments and medical errors.
• Perform daily quality control functions in the histology laboratory with zero instances of non-compliance.
• Assist residents in selecting proper stains for histopathology examination.
• Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in immunohistochemistry staining, tissue fixation and processing, and histochemistry staining.
• Perform basic troubleshooting in a case-by-case basis.
• Prepare frozen sections for examination and analysis.

• High School Diploma
• 1 year full-time experience in Histopathology working under the direction of a Board certified anatomic pathologist.

• AA/AS
• ASCP Histo-tech certification
