Job Title: Medical Director - Paramedicine

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking a highly qualified Medical Director for its Paramedicine program in the Health and Public Safety Technology department. This part-time position is located on the main campus, just south of downtown Atlanta.

Job Summary:

The Medical Director will play a crucial role in the overall operation and advisement of the Paramedicine program. This non-administrative position serves as an instructional leader and advisor, working cooperatively with the Program Director. The Medical Director will provide medical and instructional leadership in all phases of the program, acting as a liaison between the medical directors of hospital and field internship affiliates and the program.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide direct student instruction in the classroom.
  2. Advise Faculty on medical content accuracy.
  3. Review and approval of the educational content of the program curriculum and the quality of medical instruction and supervision delivered by the faculty.
  4. Review and approve the medical content of all formatives, summative, and capstone written examinations, scripted scenarios, and oral assessments.
  5. Provide recommendations on clinical instruction and clinical practice.
  6. Review curriculum and instructional materials in conjunction with the Program Director.
  7. Participate in final summative and capstone practical exercises with all students prior to the national board exams.
  8. Assist Faculty in evaluation of student clinical competencies and experiences.
  9. Assist Program Director with assurances of a quality program.
  10. Serve as Program Advisory Committee Chairperson and attend bi-annual meetings.
  11. Attend, when possible, program faculty meetings.
  12. Participate in classroom presentations and lectures, instructing as needed.
  13. Participate in the student assessment (Formative and Summative).
  14. Provide feedback to students to support student learning.
  15. Serve as Medical Director for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS), Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC), and National Registry Examinations.
  16. Provide coordination and liaison with the physician community as needed.
  17. Work with the Program Director to assure that the program has appropriate and up-to-date equipment and supplies.
  18. Schedule regular hours on campus for the purpose of course content review and approval.
  19. Each week, unless agreed upon by the Program Director, the Medical Director will engage in a minimum of 8 hours of administrative, clinical, and/or instructional support for ATC EMS programs.
  20. Work with the Program Director to affirm that the Program has acceptable and current equipment and supplies.
  21. Adhere to the accreditation standards for CoAEMSP.
  22. Assist and provide medical oversight during the "EMS Program Review" and "Student File Review" process.
Qualifications:
  • Licensed Medical Physician in Emergency Medicine.
  • Licensed in the state of Georgia and in good standing.
  • Three (3) years as a clinical physician in the field.
  • Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS), and Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) or more years as a clinical physician in the field.
