Clinical Laboratory Technician

Position Summary
The Phlebotomist plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by managing laboratory test orders in the CPSI system, performing blood draws, and collecting lab specimens from various departments within the hospital. Additional responsibilities include conducting EKGs, handling clerical tasks, and ensuring the availability of supplies at draw stations.
Key Responsibilities
- Navigate throughout the facility, participate in emergency drills, and fulfill the physical demands necessary to provide assigned services.
- Execute phlebotomy tasks in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Foster positive relationships with patients and contribute to a favorable perception of the hospital.
- Adhere to safety protocols as outlined by departmental guidelines.
- Exhibit a commitment to the core values of Pomerene Hospital.
- Deliver services that enhance patient satisfaction.
- Encourage and support the involvement of Primary Support Persons (PSP) and family members in patient care, with the patient's consent. This includes including them in discussions regarding testing, procedures, and discharge instructions when appropriate.
Educational Requirements
A High School Diploma or GED is required.
Completion of six to eight weeks of on-the-job training is necessary.
Experience Requirements
1-3 years of experience in a healthcare or medical setting as a Phlebotomist is preferred.
Certifications and Licenses
Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) from ASCP or an equivalent organization is required.
