Key Responsibilities- Infrastructure Deployment and Maintenance: Install, troubleshoot, and maintain the infrastructure for supported services, including VOIP Telephony, audio code connections, emergency phone support, CATV plant, fire alarm communications network, cellular distributed antenna system, public safety distributed antenna systems, underground telecommunication cable location identification and marking, and infrastructure disconnects.
- Fiber Optic Termination and Splicing: Perform high-level troubleshooting and installation of fiber optic terminations and fusion splicing, including testing verifications for Loss Length (Tier-1) and OTDR traces (Tier-2), installs and diagnoses complex problems on fiber optic pathways, and coordinates and installs low voltage cables, activations, and repairs.
- Certification and Testing: Perform certifying test results for copper and fiber optic infrastructure.
- Database Management: Maintain the Arc GIS Database infrastructure records for GPS locations of newly installed and legacy communication cable plant.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Oversees assigned trouble tickets and work orders while maintaining SLE deadlines, performs telecommunication Room (TR) upkeep and maintenance, and provides 24x7x365 response for incidents and alerts.
- Documentation and Training: Develops, maintains, and provides infrastructure documentation, including internal departmental database records, infrastructure audits, LCM efforts, and preventive maintenance, and keeps up to date with latest IT technologies through training on topics from the primary duties and responsibilities.
- Education and Experience: Associate degree in computers or information technology required plus 4 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Experience can be in lieu of education. – Required
- Hands-on Troubleshooting Experience: 4-5 years of hands-on troubleshooting experience.
- Fiber Optic Background: Fiber optic background required.
- Certifications and Knowledge: Completion of an infrastructure low voltage certificate program or degree from an accredited technical school preferred, knowledge of structured cabling systems, and BICSI certification preferred.
