Nutrition Specialist Opportunity

At Nuvance Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Registered Dietitian to join our team in Rhinebeck, NY. As a Nutrition Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing instruction, nutritional/dietary support, counseling, guidance, and education to patients entering our program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-person and telehealth initial and subsequent nutrition evaluations of medical and surgical weight loss patients, and document encounters using program center templates.
  • Assess patient's current nutritional status, nutrition-related biochemical parameters, eating patterns, lifestyle, exercise, and structured activity.
  • Provide nutrition education to patients, including pre and postop Bariatric Stage surgical diets, macro and micronutrients, prophylactic and replacement vitamin therapy, according to literature-based center and program parameters.
  • Conduct inpatient visits postop to Bariatric patients prior to discharge for enforcement and teach-back of Bariatric Stage diets and advancement, and to answer any questions.
  • Lead the dietary management of non-surgical patients, guiding them through setting nutrition goals, creating meal plans, setting macro and calorie goals, and being familiar with prescribed anti-obesity medications.
  • Assess patient's readiness to learn, motivation, and ability to participate in a weight loss program, and present any cases of concern to the Provider and Team for a collaborative determination of next steps or intervention.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or equivalent experience. Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or registration eligible. Must pass registration exam within 6 months of hire.
  • State of New York Certification as a Dietitian/Nutritionist. For new grads, to be obtained as soon as RD exam has been passed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience 2-years or more in the field of Dietetics and Nutrition as well as a Master's Degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
