XCEL Engineering seeks a qualified Metadata Technologist for remote work with occasional site travel. The successful candidate will collaborate with sponsors and researchers to implement and maintain data and metadata repositories in a research environment, ensuring user-centered metadata ingestion and creation for discoverability of information resources locally and globally. This role involves exploring new metadata best practices to expand research data discoverability.

The ideal candidate will lead iterative development of new programs and tools for metadata management, analyze and evaluate metadata quality, create mappings for various metadata formats and sources, and participate in new metadata initiatives. A strong background in IT concepts, including security, infrastructure, and information systems, is essential for this role. Excellent communication skills are also required for successfully communicating technical information to diverse audiences.
