Job Summary

This Lifeguard (In Training) will work closely with certified lifeguards to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to become a certified lifeguard within 90 days of hire.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shadow and assist lifeguards to learn programming and emergency procedures.
  • Communicate policies and procedures to pool patrons and staff.
  • Provide excellent customer service in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere.
Requirements
  • Minimum age of 15.
  • Certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to swim in shallow and deep water and tread water.
  • Dedicated to member safety and the mission and philosophy of the YMCA.
Work Environment

This position requires working in a pool environment with temperatures of 80 degrees or higher.

Ability to support child or adult body weight in the water and recognize and remedy hazardous situations.

Must be able to remain alert and communicate verbally in a loud environment.
