Job Summary

The General Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of our fitness center, ensuring a positive and motivating environment for our members and staff. This role requires exceptional leadership and diplomacy skills, with the ability to interact with members and co-workers in a professional and positive manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing staff of Assistant Managers, Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
  • Lead by example and maintain consistent accountability for direct reports, ensuring adherence to Planet Fitness values and goals.
  • Manage marketing efforts, including training staff on marketing promotions and authorizing expenditures and refunds.
  • Prepare timely payroll submittals and ensure all employees have properly recorded their time in TimeTender.
  • Ensure prompt opening and closing of the gym, oversee cleanliness and maintenance of the facility, and determine and communicate equipment repair in a timely manner.
  • Manage employee issues or concerns, resolve disciplinary/termination activities, and ensure safety of employees, members, and club property.
Requirements
  • Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
  • Experience working as an Assistant Manager at Planet Fitness is recommended.
  • Exceptional leadership, diplomacy, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact in a positive and professional way with members and co-workers, exceeding member expectations.
  • Hard working, enthusiastic, and energetic.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Suite).
  • Strong problem resolution skills.
  • High school diploma/GED equivalent required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
Working Environment

The General Manager will work in an indoor environment, with exposure to noise, dust, mechanical and electrical hazards, and cleaning chemicals. The primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk, stand for prolonged periods, and perform daily duties.
