Position Overview

As a High Throughput Computing (HTC) Specialist at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, you will lead the definition and convergence of complex and novel systems and product architectures, aimed at pushing beyond the state-of-art HTC systems. You will work closely with vendors and manufacturers of HTC hardware, lab operations, and networking teams to drive innovation and deliver cutting-edge science.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and design leading HTC systems that balance performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Utilize trend and monitoring data from diverse sources to tune compute systems.
  • Produce written documentation for diverse audiences, including system administrators, lab management, peers, and professional organizations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and software developers to resolve technical challenges and clarify scientific requirements.
  • Communicate and report on progress of tasks and projects.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other relevant Information Technology field.
  • 6+ years of experience in developing, deploying, and testing high throughput computing hardware solutions.
  • Experience with multiple hardware architectures, Linux/Unix variants, virtualization, and container architecture.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work on project teams.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other relevant Information Technology field.
  • Experience supporting high throughput clusters with SLURM Workload Manager.
  • Experience with large scale data center operations, thermal and power constraints, and scientific applications.
