The Behavioral Health Consultant plays a vital role in our integrated care team, providing evidence-based assessments and interventions to support patients' functional restoration and overall well-being. This position requires adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to function independently in a fast-paced primary care setting.
Key Responsibilities- Apply biopsychosocial models of human behavior and development to provide effective interventions.
- Utilize first-line interventions in a time-limited setting to address a broad spectrum of physical and mental health problems.
- Target treatment for mental health concerns, substance abuse, adverse health behaviors, and stress-related physical symptoms.
- Provide patient and family education, encouraging compliance with medical and behavioral treatment plans.
- Teach classes and groups related to integrated behavioral health, such as chronic pain management and stress reduction.
- Effectively communicate with medical providers using electronic health records and verbal communication.
- Consult and train primary care team members on mental health, chemical dependency, and behavioral medicine.
- Discuss psychotropic medications with patients, including indications, effects, and side effects.
- Assess and manage suicidal and homicidal risk, as well as concerns for child or elder abuse and neglect.
- Coordinate with crisis teams, contract police, and Child Protective Services as needed.
- Perform clinical, compliance, and administrative duties related to Medicare billing.
- Doctorate in Psychology or related behavioral health field.
- Two years of post-doctoral practice experience with primary care behavioral health/collaborative care training.
- Possession of a Psychologist License (Colorado) and National Provider Identifier.
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced primary care setting and inter-disciplinary team.
- Knowledge of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine patient populations and complex systems of psychiatric care.
