Job Title: Cytotechnologist Specialist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Cytotechnologist Specialist to join our team at Sonic Healthcare. As a Cytotechnologist Specialist, you will play a vital role in the patient care process by examining prepared slides with a microscope to detect evidence of abnormalities. You will report negative Pap Test cases and refer abnormal cases to pathologists for review. Your expertise will also include reading Non-GYN specimens and reporting findings to pathologists for final diagnosis.
Responsibilities:
* Perform a vital part of the patient care process through examining prepared slides with a microscope to detect evidence of abnormalities
* Report negative Pap Test cases and refer abnormal cases to pathologists for review
* Read Non-GYN specimens and report findings to pathologists for final diagnosis
* Document for each 24-hour period, the total number of slides examined or reviewed in the laboratory
* Document the number of hours spent examining slides in each 24-hour period
* Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment
* Champion safety, compliance, and quality control
Requirements:
* Graduation from an accredited school of cytology
* Cytotechnologist certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists
* Critical thinking, complex problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making skills
* Ability to operate general laboratory equipment and have basic computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* 2+ years of laboratory training or experience

This role will have routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Employees will be trained on reasonable safeguards and are expected to maintain strict confidentiality, as well as abide by all applicable privacy and security standards. Employees are expected only to access PHI when it is required to fulfill job duties.
