Position Overview:

  • Registered Professional Engineer responsible for the engineering services related to the design, fabrication, and installation of curtainwall systems.
  • Oversees project execution and coordinates the design, fabrication, and installation processes of curtainwall systems.
  • Reviews and certifies facade shop drawings and structural calculations.
  • Mentors junior engineers to foster their development in structural engineering, curtainwall systems, leadership, and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the Engineer of Record for curtainwall and facade projects.
  • Directs the design and coordination of curtainwall shop drawings, structural calculations, and as-built documentation.
  • Reviews, certifies, and signs off on structural calculations, shop drawings, and as-built documents.
  • Manages multiple projects while delegating tasks to junior engineers.
  • Supports other engineering projects under the guidance of senior P.E.s.
  • Utilizes hand sketches and CAD for drafting solutions.
  • Conducts system analysis using hand calculations and CAE software.
  • Provides software support and resources within the structural engineering team.
  • Designs facades in accordance with best practices, building codes, material design codes, project specifications, and vendor guidelines.
  • Encourages collaboration within diverse, cross-functional teams to address complex challenges.
  • Works independently and may review the work of peers.
  • Exhibits strong communication skills to effectively present information and address inquiries from supervising P.E.s, system designers, and operations teams.
  • Serves as the primary contact for structural inquiries.
  • Generates innovative solutions to design and field challenges.
  • Develops designs that are efficient, high-performing, and feasible for construction.
  • Consults with senior P.E.s to determine optimal solutions for complex or unique issues.
  • Creates and manages the Structural Master Document Index (MDI).
  • Conducts performance reviews for junior engineers as necessary.
  • Demonstrates strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Participates in performance mockups and construction site observations as required.
  • Acts as a role model for professionalism within the Structural Engineering group.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Civil or Structural preferred).
  • Registered as a P.E. or S.E. in the state of residence.
  • Ability to obtain P.E. registration in multiple states.
  • Experience with performance mockups and construction site observations.
  • Preferred Structural Engineering (S.E.) License.
  • Experience in curtainwall project design and fieldwork (1+ large/complex projects or 3+ small/conventional projects).
