Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Med Surg/Telemetry team at Northwell Health. As a critical care nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' physiologic health status and develop individualized plans of care
  • Conduct patient interviews, explain policies and procedures, and review patient charts
  • Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status
  • Determine mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition and adjust plans of care as needed
  • Communicate and document patients' physiologic health status and plan of care
  • Assess patients' psychosocial health status and elicit perceptions of medical/nursing care and expectations
  • Develop criteria for measurement of patient outcomes and identify actual/potential patient problems
  • Develop patient outcome statements and establish individualized patient goals
  • Formulate plans of care and establish priorities necessary to achieve expected outcomes
  • Coordinate the cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication to achieve expected outcomes
  • Implement plans of care and maintain constant vigilance over patients' care to ensure safety precautions/needs are followed
  • Administer medications correctly and safely, including identifying medication actions, dosages, side effects, and implications for patients
  • Participate in patient and family education, providing explanations of patients' conditions and communicating assessment data in an orderly fashion
  • Evaluate care provided for patient outcomes and perform variance analysis related to outcome data for performance improvement
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with an Associate's Degree in Nursing, required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of professional nursing experience in the related specialty
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State, required
  • BLS/ACLS required, plus specialized certifications as needed
