Role Summary:

We are in search of a qualified Surgical Care Coordinator who will assist patients in managing all facets of their surgical journey in a professional and supportive manner. This individual will act as a liaison among patients, healthcare providers, hospitals, and other caregivers concerning the patient's surgical process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews with patients referred by physicians to facilitate surgical care coordination. Clarify the procedure, any necessary tests or treatments prior to surgery, and required preoperative consents and authorizations.
  • Oversee the documentation of all surgical care and related services for the patient, ensuring all information is accurately recorded in the patient's medical record (EHR) and practice management system.
  • Manage pre-operative scheduling for necessary testing, additional examinations, laboratory work, and required notifications.
  • Arrange appointments according to the preferences of individual physicians.
  • Ensure timely receipt of all pre-operative documentation and submit it to nursing for review.
  • Complete the surgical coordination process by providing written schedules and instructions to the patient, and scanning copies into the patient's EMR record.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in surgical coordination.
  • Strong understanding of insurance processes.
  • Proficient in computer systems, with prior experience in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.
  • Experience in urology is advantageous.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel to various sites as needed within a designated region.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer software and database management.

  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday.
  • Occasional requirements to stoop, bend, speak, and listen.
