About the Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking a talented and motivated Civil Engineer to support utility-scale solar photovoltaic projects. The selected candidate will collaborate with our civil, structural, and electrical design teams and clients to provide innovative design solutions for solar project development, design, and construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply current engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete engineering tasks and support other design workflows as necessary.
  • Develop plans, specifications, and observation reports that are complete, accurate, and in accordance with sound utility-scale solar engineering practices.
  • Recommend alterations to development criteria and design features to improve quality.
  • Work closely with engineering technicians and design engineers, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish project goals.
  • Resolve design challenges, including performing field investigations and resolving discrepancies between multiple sources of information.
  • Check design computations performed by internal civil design teams when appropriate.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence concerning project direction.
  • Review plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk management considerations.
  • Maintain a value engineering mindset throughout development, design, and construction.
  • Collaborate with business and engineering staff across multiple markets and technical disciplines.
  • Work closely with clients to understand nuanced technical needs and identify best feasible solutions.
  • Support marketing, sales, and business development activities within assigned markets.
  • Demonstrate a wide degree of out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and design ownership.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of Civil Professional Engineer (PE) registration or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum of 4-6+ years of civil engineering experience, with at least 3+ years of experience in design and development of utility-scale solar.
  • Proficient in large-scale solar grading design and earthwork calculations.
  • Experience performing detailed design of solar facilities with complex topographic, environmental, and non-participating infrastructure constraints is highly desired.
  • Stormwater management and permitting experience is highly desired.
  • Experience developing Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plans (SPCC) and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the US.
