As a Plant Operations Specialist - Steam System Maintenance, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our central plant systems, including steam boilers and water treatment systems.

The salary for this position is estimated at $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Summary

This is a skilled plant engineering position that requires the application of individual technical expertise to equipment, systems, and controls. You will work under the direction of the Plant Operator on watch and/or engineering management to provide services that ensure the safe and efficient operation of our plant equipment.

Major Job Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • Operate steam boilers and plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Monitor, record, and maintain proper water treatment in central plant systems.
  • Inspect, repair, and perform preventative maintenance procedures on equipment and systems both manually and through Building Management System (BMS).
  • Perform regular rounds and take gas and water readings.
  • Inspect, test, and repair kitchen refrigeration equipment during off-hours.
  • Monitor all BMS systems alarms and coordinate with watch operator to make appropriate phone calls.
  • Maintain files such as the central plant log, lock out tag out records, and records of completed work.
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School/GED
  • 2-3 years of experience operating low and/or high-pressure steam boilers. Basic central plant centrifugal chiller experience.
  • Must be able to obtain an Unlimited Steam License issued by the City of Los Angeles within 24 months.
  • Must be able to obtain EPA 608 refrigeration license within 24 months.
  • 2 years of experience in Building Management Systems, HVAC automation controls, energy management systems, or other related experience. 2-year community college degree or certificate preferred.
  • Valid California drivers license with less than 3 DMV points.
  • Ability to successfully meet development milestones.
  • EPA 608 refrigeration license, or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
