Position Overview

Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service, Inc. is recognized as the largest independent, locally owned and operated Emergency Medical Service provider in the Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio regions.

Role Summary

Under the supervision of the Lead Mechanic, the Automotive Technician will be tasked with the comprehensive maintenance and repair of all vehicles within the Superior Ambulance fleet. This role involves working in a dynamic, high-volume private fleet environment, handling a diverse range of vehicle makes and models.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting inspections, diagnosing issues, and repairing electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Performing routine maintenance to enhance vehicle performance and lifespan.
  • Completing necessary documentation related to vehicle repairs, including parts usage and repair durations.
  • Executing additional maintenance tasks as required.
  • Communicating repair needs or tasks to the management team.
  • Maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • Carrying out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Willingness to work on both gas and diesel engines as necessary.
  • Understanding of basic electrical components, including switches, relays, and circuits.
  • Must provide personal tools.
  • Proficiency in vehicle diagnostics and repairs is essential.
  • Experience with emergency lighting and sirens is advantageous.
  • Certificates of achievement in relevant areas are considered valuable.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Comprehension of and adherence to oral and written instructions in English.
  • Physical capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 75 lbs and reach overhead.

Work Environment

In this role, the employee will frequently engage in verbal communication with others. The position requires working both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to various environmental elements, automotive fluids, and cleaning agents.
