Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor to join our team at Shawnee Correctional Center. As an Adjunct Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching in discipline areas as assigned by the respective Associate Dean.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction: Develop and deliver high-quality instructional materials, including course syllabi, and evaluate student performance.
  • Professional Development: Remain current with content, technology, and instructional methods and strategies in the discipline.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain regular communication with the Associate Dean, especially regarding absences and/or cancelling class.
  • Student Supervision: Maintain supervision of students in assigned areas and report any issues immediately to security staff and the Associate Dean.
  • Emergency Response: Assist institutional personnel during emergency situations.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's Degree in the discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2,000 hours of work experience in the field.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates ability to learn the Lake Land College information systems and processes; maintains all professional credentials required to teach in the area of discipline.
  • Personal Qualities: Open-minded, innovative, enthusiastic, positive attitude, and adaptable to new teaching technologies.
