Job Summary

Direct, plan, organize, and direct all aspects of operation and administration of Division of Public Safety. This position has been identified by Federal Law (Jeanne Clery Act) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities. CSA 's are obligated to report crimes reported to them which occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the University.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate supervision of subordinate management and operating staff.
  • Direct strategic planning and policy development.
  • Represent department to the University, other agencies, and public.
  • Prepare annual budgets and control expenditure of funds.
  • Formulate and prescribe work methods and procedures.
  • Advise and assist subordinates in highly complex criminal investigations.
  • Establish relationships with city, county, and state public safety offices.
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
Other Required Qualifications
  • Georgia P.O.S.T (Peace Officer Standards Training)
Required Experience
  • Eight (8) or more years of law enforcement experience
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in a supervisory law enforcement role
Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Clery Act and Title IX requirements
  • Georgia P.O.S.T (Peace Officer Standards Training) law enforcement (police) certified
Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Graduate of Command College or FBI National Academy
Preferred Experience
  • Five (5) or more years of supervisory experience
  • Previous experience in higher education campus law enforcement environment
Proposed Salary

$117,780 - $135,339 annually

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

ABILITIES
  • Consistently exhibit engaging customer service.
  • Ability to support various constituencies served by the University.
  • Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications required for the position.
  • Ability to proficiently use police equipment, including vehicle, weapon, baton, and Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray.
  • Ability to solve problems and think creatively to manage tense situations courteously and tactfully.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine the proper course of action.
  • Georgia P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards and Training) Certified as a basic law enforcement Peace Officer.
  • Conduct research via the internet and access data in the police records management system and Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) database.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet institutional goals and support the University's mission for student success.
  • Knowledge of Georgia Crime Information Center and National Crime Information Center facilities and services.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with the State Certification process and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable about Georgia law and office policies and procedures.
