About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior UX Designer to join our Human-Centered Design team at The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the user experience of our internal tools and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Foundation's user needs and design solutions that meet their needs.
  • Lead the end-to-end UX process on digital applications, working closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and develop effective solutions.
  • Conduct user and stakeholder research, synthesizing findings to inform design decisions.
  • Create research reports, service blueprints, journey maps, personas, process flows, and other artifacts to communicate research findings and design concepts.
  • Drive clarity and alignment on needs, opportunities, and success criteria with business owners, analysts, and technologists.
  • Collaborate with technical team members to evaluate technology options against user needs, business requirements, and usability best practices.
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity mockups, user flows, information architecture diagrams, and other artifacts to communicate design concepts.
  • Work with team members and end-users to define how best to organize the user experience, including navigation patterns, categorization, labeling, and transitions across platforms.
  • Leverage modern user interface and service design patterns and exemplars, articulating their design logic, benefits, and tradeoffs.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of professional experience as a UX designer, with a strong portfolio that demonstrates a depth of human-centered design process, documentation, and outcomes.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Psychology, Library & Information Sciences, or other relevant fields.
  • Experience leading the end-to-end UX process on digital applications, with a mix of B2C and B2B experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of product design and development lifecycle, and experience researching and designing on both agile and waterfall projects.
  • Experience with both generative and evaluative research, and qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Experience evaluating existing products in terms of their usability, usefulness, learnability, and customizability.
  • Experience with prototyping, future visioning, and strategy development.
  • Experience in a business/client-facing role and navigating organizational dynamics.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $137,500 to $206,200 USD, with a higher range for locations in Seattle and Washington D.C.
