Position Overview:
The Neurodiagnostic Technician is responsible for conducting routine and advanced non-invasive neurological assessments as directed by medical professionals. This role requires independent operation, utilizing sound judgment and honed clinical expertise to perform safe and accurate procedures, ensuring timely delivery of results to physicians. The technician fosters trust and collaboration with patients, their families, and other healthcare personnel through thorough patient evaluations, vigilant monitoring, and effective communication.
Job Responsibilities:
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
Registered Electroencephalographic/Neurodiagnostic Technologist (REEGT) for EEG procedures.
Certified Electromyographic Technologist (EMG) for EMG assessments.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one year of relevant experience in the field.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Comprehensive understanding of neurodiagnostic services, equipment, and operational mechanics. Familiarity with basic neuroanatomy and neurophysiology related to EEG and EMG.
Ability to interpret diverse data and instructions presented in various formats.
Knowledge of clinical conditions associated with electrographic activity, including seizures and non-epileptic events.
Understanding of medical terminology and standard abbreviations in neurodiagnostics, as well as basic electrical and electronic principles related to EEG and EMG equipment.
Competence in evaluating EEG and EMG results, alongside a foundational knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly to a variety of audiences.
Effective time management and organizational abilities, with a focus on prioritizing tasks within established protocols to meet objectives.
Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively, managing multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
Ability to identify and resolve standard issues by selecting appropriate solutions from established options while ensuring patient confidentiality.
Build and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues and other healthcare providers to support departmental and organizational goals.
