POSITION SUMMARY:
The NICU Nurse Manager serves as a pivotal nursing leader responsible for the comprehensive assessment, planning, execution, direction, and evaluation of patient care within the designated unit on a continuous 24-hour basis. This role encompasses the management of all personnel, resources, and equipment essential for ensuring safe and high-quality patient care. The NICU Manager remains informed about the latest techniques, skills, evidence-based practices, and regulations pertinent to the age group of patients served.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
- Maintains up-to-date certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- A minimum of 2 years of recent managerial experience.
- Proficient in developing strategies that apply contemporary theoretical approaches to patient care delivery.
- Familiarity with current leadership, management, and quality improvement principles.
- Capability to lead and implement program development initiatives.
- Exemplary quality service skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Competence in public interaction.
Preferred:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- 3-5 years of clinical experience in NICU nursing.
- Certification as an NRP Instructor.
- Certification in S.T.A.B.L.E.
- Specialty certifications such as High Risk NICU or Low Risk NICU.
