Position Summary

The Behavioral Support Educator plays a crucial role in assisting teachers within the classroom setting. This position may involve instructing specific subjects and providing substitute teaching when necessary. The role offers an opportunity to familiarize oneself with the BASIS Charter School framework and prepares individuals for future teaching positions or other educational roles.

This role requires an active presence throughout the school, addressing various student needs and contributing to a positive, achievement-focused school culture.

Essential Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree is mandatory.
  • Possession of a valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card and/or a satisfactory state background check.
  • Availability for full-time work.
  • Willingness to undertake the NES Elementary Education Assessment, if required.
  • Flexibility to be considered for positions at different campuses.
  • Commitment to maintaining current knowledge in subject matter and BASIS Charter School teaching methodologies.

Key Responsibilities (may vary based on campus requirements)

  • Engaging in classroom instruction, both as a primary teacher and as a substitute.
  • Supporting teachers with classroom management and addressing student behaviors.
  • Providing academic assistance and tutoring to students.
  • Collaborating with teachers during events, labs, and assessments.
  • Assisting in evaluating student progress and needs.
  • Proctoring examinations.
  • Overseeing students during non-class time, including supervision during early and late periods as well as lunch.
  • Managing study groups effectively.
  • Supporting school leadership in behavior management and discipline.
  • Contributing to the execution of key school programs.
