Job Summary:

The Optometry Technician will provide exceptional eye care services to patients in a fast-paced environment. This role involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preliminary eye examinations, including vision tests and assessments of visual acuity.
  • Gather patient medical histories and document information accurately in electronic health records.
  • Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment, such as autorefractors, tonometers, and visual field testers.
  • Assist with contact lens fittings and educate patients on proper care and usage.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist the optometrist during procedures.
  • Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and handle administrative tasks as needed.
  • Provide patients with information on eye health, treatments, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure a clean and organized work environment, adhering to health and safety protocols.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an optometric technician course or show evidence of training and certification obtained through the Army, Navy, or Air Force Optometry Technician program
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience within the last three years working as a Full-Time Optometry Technician
  • Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients and staff
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and diagnostic equipment

Security Clearance Requirements:

An active Secret Clearance is required.
