The Nursing Services Supervisor is a licensed professional nurse who operates under the guidance of the Director of Nursing Services.
This role is pivotal in assisting with the planning, organization, development, and management of nursing services to ensure that the highest standard of quality resident care is consistently upheld.
Qualifications for Nursing Services Supervisor
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current nursing license in the practicing state.
- A minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
- Exemplary leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in English communication, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
General Responsibilities
- Ensure residents are provided with a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
- Initiate individualized Plans of Care upon resident admission.
- Support the implementation of recommendations from consultants and the Quality Assurance team as directed by the Director of Nursing Services.
- Assist in the development, review, and updating of individual resident Plans of Care.
- Ensure timely notification to the resident's attending physician and legal guardian/representative in cases of critical illness, injury, or significant changes in condition as per established policies.
- Address complaints and grievances from families and communicate necessary information to the Director of Nursing Services.
- Evaluate emergencies and assist in executing emergency protocols.
- Maintain a clean and safe unit environment, ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available for nursing care.
- Assist in notifying physicians of any resident incidents or unusual occurrences, ensuring that Accident/Incident Report forms are accurately completed and documented in the resident's medical record.
- Support the Charge Nurse in investigating allegations of abuse or unusual occurrences as per established policies.
- Administer and monitor intravenous medications as prescribed.
- Assist nursing personnel in performing necessary nursing procedures.
- Facilitate the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents.
- Help address findings and deficiencies identified by the Department of Health Services, Consultants, and the Quality Assurance Team.
- Assist in conducting various assessments including restraint, pain, oral, psychotropic, bowel and bladder assessments, and weekly I & O evaluations.
- Ensure that all nursing notes are documented in a clear and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided and the resident's response.
- Participate in staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator.
Supervision
- Conduct resident rounds to verify appropriate care is being delivered, making necessary corrections.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to identify and rectify problem areas and enhance resident care.
- Assist in rounds with attending physicians as required.
- Support the Charge Nurse in adjusting assignments during nursing shortages.
- Oversee and guide nursing personnel.
- Participate in the evaluation and disciplinary processes for nursing staff.
Consumer Service
- Exhibit a professional demeanor to consumers through appropriate dress, behavior, and communication.
- Adhere to company standards for addressing consumer concerns.
- Ensure the protection of all resident rights.
