Job Description

Western Digital is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our MES design, development, test, and deployment team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional IT solutions for Wafer Manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business problems and develop leading-edge IT solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications and automation solutions.
  • Guide the choice of development tools, methodologies, and open-source software.
  • Drive development of new functionalities, algorithms, prototypes, and reports.
  • Support MES issues and provide guidance on a 24x7 basis.
  • Integrate with other IT groups to ensure seamless communications.
  • Operate according to Agile principles.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Visual Studio development suite, specifically C#.Net.
  • Knowledge in front-end development using Angular or React framework or any web framework.
  • Strong understanding of core Manufacturing Execution System Concepts and highly available MES solutions.
  • Programming experience with Oracle DB or MS SQL.
  • Experience with Semiconductor MFG processes and concepts.
  • Familiarity with microservices and AI Concepts.

Skills:

  • Written communication skills: ability to write clear requirement documents, design documents, test plans, and user documents.
  • Verbal communication skills: ability to present requirements, designs, test plans, and status to peers and management team.
  • Team skills: ability to operate in a collaborative team development environment.
