Location:
This position is based on-site in Newburyport, MA, and the position holder must be within commuting distance (within 45 minutes). The position will be on-site full-time.

Procurement Specialist Summary:
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for coordinating all activities related to procurement, including planning, purchasing, risk assessment, contract negotiation, monitoring market trends, cost reduction strategies, inventory management, and total supplier quality management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently oversee the purchase order process from creation to closure, ensuring accuracy in terms and conditions and compliance with company policies.
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with the company's business goals and operational needs.
- Negotiate better terms and secure advantageous agreements through effective management of supplier relationships.
- Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and supply chain optimization.
- Implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential supply chain disruptions, including diversifying the supplier base and maintaining safety stock levels.
- Manage total supplier quality, including site audits as needed.
- Independently handle various special projects assigned by the Supply Chain Manager, Materials Manager, or Manufacturing Manager, related to product search, costing, plant operations, or financials.
- Track and report materials/inventory levels per project on a regular basis.
- Manage sub-contract supply chain requirements.
- Back up the Supply Chain Manager with duties and cover during absence.
- Travel to suppliers less than 10% of the time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in material procurement or a similar discipline, and a minimum of 10 years' experience in a procurement function supporting a manufacturing operation.
- Strong analytical abilities and experience working with MRP systems.
- Experience with lean manufacturing and six sigma environments.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and data entry skills.
- Ability to analyze complex planning matrices and execute best strategies for optimal stocking levels.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Six Sigma Lean background.
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint fluency preferred.
- Supplier audit experience preferred.
- CPM certification preferred.
