We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Orthopedic Surgical Assistant to join our team at Rothman Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide assistance to surgeons with retracting for surgical cases in the operating room, while also carrying out basic patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities
  • Second Assistant in surgery with retracting, as directed by surgeon and first assistant.
  • Participation in short and long call coverage.
  • Assists in the care of assigned patients as directed by appropriate nursing staff.
  • Maintains a sterile field and assists with O.R. room turnover, cleanliness of peri-anesthesia and peri-operative areas.
  • Assists with patient transfer in peri-anesthesia and peri-operative and in-patient areas.
  • Responds to emergency situations and communicates effectively with assigned nurse.
  • Stocks supplies in peri-anesthesia and peri-operative areas.
Requirements
  • BLS certified.
  • High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • 2 year minimum Orderly 2nd Assist/Operating Room Orderly Experience.
  • COVID Vaccinated.
