Make a Meaningful Difference in the Lives of Young Children and Families

The Jewish Board is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Consultant to join our team of professionals who are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young children and families.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our Early Childhood Treatment Center, providing mental health consultation and support to early learn and pilot programs, as well as conducting intake assessments and working with a small caseload of clients.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain positive working partnerships with staff and teachers in early child care settings.
  • Assess and develop consultation plans with child care sites and pilot programs.
  • Conduct trainings for staff on early childhood mental health and wellness, including the signs and symptoms of trauma.
  • Consult with teachers and staff to provide mental health consultation regarding children in need.
  • Consult with parents as needed and refer children who need intervention beyond on-site consultation to mental health clinics.
  • Support the development of consultation pilot programs, including the development and collection of data and demographic information.
  • Screen young children to identify trauma, developmental needs, and possible depression.
  • Attend monthly consultation calls with other DOHMH contracted agencies and staff.
  • Complete timely documentation and maintain required statistics/data.
  • Ensure excellent client care in line with State and Agency mandates.
  • Make referrals to outpatient clinics and early intervention programs as needed.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in counseling, creative arts, or social work from an accredited program, and a New York State License or limited permit in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC), Creative Arts Therapy (LCAT), social work (LMSW), or Limited/Licensed Psychologist.

Experience working with young children and families, fluency in Spanish or French/Creole, and experience with documenting in electronic health records and using Microsoft Office software are highly preferred.
