Bates Technical College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Phlebotomy Instructor to assist with courses taught within the Phlebotomy and Certified Medical Assistant programs. The successful candidate will provide instruction in clinical and lab settings, as well as traditional and online classrooms.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and schedule clinical externships for students and pursue additional clinical sites to conduct program courses.
- Supervise and instruct in classroom and clinical settings.
- Mentor, encourage, counsel, and guide students toward the completion of program requirements.
- Facilitate a process for on-going student input for instructional and program improvement.
- Manage the classroom in a manner that ensures a suitable learning environment.
- Ensure that appropriate safety practices are used at all times, students are knowledgeable of safety techniques, and all equipment is maintained in a safe working condition.
- Evaluate and document students' achievements, course progress, attendance, workplace behaviors, and maintain required written and computerized records.
- Develop and maintain full program curriculum documentation in accordance with the approved college format and ensure that instruction is consistent with current industry or business standards, technologies, procedures, equipment, and materials.
- Certification or associate degree or bachelor's degree in Phlebotomy.
- Current (or eligible for) State of Washington MA-P certification.
- Teaching or training experience equivalent to 10 weeks.
- Two years of recent full-time work experience in the clinical lab environment, including recent experience.
- Teaching experience in a college or clinical setting.
- Three years of supervisory experience in clinical lab environment, including supervision of clinical students.
- Ability to work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Computer skills and the ability to apply technology to the allied health education curriculum.
