Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Head Coach for Girls Track and Field to join our team at Madison Metropolitan School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing our girls track and field team, while promoting a positive and supportive team culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Oversee the training and development of our girls track and field team, working closely with other coaches to ensure a cohesive and effective team approach.
  • Training and Development: Develop and implement training plans for our athletes, focusing on their individual needs and goals.
  • Event Management: Oversee the running of specific events at home games, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Game Planning: Contribute to game line-up planning with other coaches, making informed decisions to maximize our team's performance.
  • Practice and Meet Attendance: Attend and coach at all practices and meets, providing guidance and support to our athletes.
  • Team Management: Assist other coaches in monitoring team members' practice attendance, school attendance, meet attendance, and grades, ensuring our athletes are meeting the necessary standards.
  • Team Policies: Enforce team policies, promoting a positive and respectful team culture.
  • Feedback and Development: Provide constructive feedback to our athletes, focusing on their performance, behavior, and team skills.
  • Qualifications and Certification: Ensure all necessary qualifications and certifications are met, including the successful completion of the WIAA Rules exam for gymnastics.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Coach's Education: Successful completion of an approved coach's education course (ASEP) or the ability to complete the course prior to the second season of coaching if no teaching license.
  • Certification: Current certification or must obtain within one month of employment and maintain CPR/AED certification from a national certifying organization.
  • Experience and Skills: Demonstrated ability to provide positive development and motivation of student-athletes, strong gymnastics background with competitive experience at the High School Level, knowledge of gymnastics skills, development, and spotting techniques, organizational skills relating to gymnastics, and ability to initiate and maintain communication with parents.
  • Preferred Qualification: Valid teaching license.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be expected to work in evenings and weekends, with the ability to stand for extended periods of time while coaching at practices and games.
