The Mammography Technologist plays a crucial role in conducting mammography assessments in accordance with ACR standards. This role is integral to the operations of the Breast Center, providing support in various diagnostic procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Perform Mammography Examinations: Execute diagnostic and screening mammographic procedures on patients across all age groups, ensuring a professional and efficient approach.
- Assist in Specialized Procedures: Support breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, and other radiologic-guided interventions.
- Imaging Setup: Prepare for breast needle localization and stereotactic procedures, including necessary setup and cleanup.
- Patient Identification: Ensure accurate identification of patient films, including proper labeling and marking.
- Film Development: Utilize processing techniques to develop exposed x-ray films.
- Quality Control: Engage in quality assurance activities, documenting various tests and checks as directed by the Chief Mammography Technologist.
- Patient Education: Provide instruction and education to patients regarding breast self-examinations and pre/post-procedure guidelines.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State, and FDA regulations.
- Patient-Centric Care: Adapt care delivery to meet the diverse needs of the patient population, considering factors such as age, culture, and language.
- Effective Communication: Interact with patients and caregivers at an appropriate level, ensuring clarity and understanding.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Licensed Mammography Technologist.
