Team Overview:

You will play a crucial role within a team focused on delivering a robust and scalable next-generation vehicle platform for future Toyota and Lexus models. This platform will feature a centralized electrical architecture powered by Arene, Woven Planet's flagship programmable automotive software system, integrating on-vehicle operating systems and cloud-based data services.

This team is tasked with developing conceptual hardware and software solutions informed by high-quality user experience research, which will define the comprehensive product vision for Toyota's future vehicles. The work will encompass a full-stack solution, starting from digital services to the programmable software system and the foundational compute and electrical architecture of the vehicle.

This group embodies the forefront of software and hardware innovation at Toyota, where your contributions will blend the agility of Silicon Valley software development with the rigorous standards of functional safety and quality that characterize Toyota products, all within a dynamic prototyping environment.

Candidate Profile:

We seek seasoned product managers who are enthusiastic about software, mobility, and transformative customer experiences. As a System Integration Engineer, you will orchestrate scalable, secure, and safe experiences that pave the way for the next generation of mobility solutions. A commitment to continuous learning, effective communication, and innovative thinking is essential, as is a hands-on approach to exploring new technologies and languages while appreciating the journey of quality and craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, fabrication, and prototyping of diverse electromechanical systems.
  2. Support and troubleshoot complex systems encompassing electrical, mechanical, and software components.
  3. Integrate hardware into vehicles via CAN and LIN interfaces.
  4. Diagnose and resolve vehicle system faults.
  5. Ensure optimal functionality of hardware platforms with minimal downtime.
  6. Revise and release technical drawings and documents for internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Enhance existing processes and techniques for the assembly of prototype components.
  8. Collaborate with members of the Arene Advanced Development group.
  9. Contribute to a large multi-team project aimed at developing user-centric concept vehicles.
  10. Occasionally engage in international travel to support product adoption initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 3+ years of experience as a Systems or Hardware Engineer in consumer products or advanced automotive technology sectors.
  2. Master's degree or higher in Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (strong Bachelor's candidates will be considered).
  3. Proficiency in CAD software.
  4. Experience with Python and Linux scripting.
  5. Familiarity with vehicle communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN) and power systems.
  6. Ability to comprehend and debug electrical and software systems.
  7. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  8. Hands-on capability to manufacture and integrate components across various platforms.
  9. Data-driven decision-making and quantitative analysis skills.
  10. Demonstrated ownership and motivation as a self-starter capable of independent work.
  11. Proven success in delivering technology products/services in a high-growth, ambiguous environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in prototyping and 3D printing is advantageous.
  2. Familiarity with machine shop practices and fabrication is a plus.
  3. Background in Consumer Electronics design is beneficial.
  4. Software engineering experience is a plus.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $112,000 to $184,000 annually. This figure represents the base salary component of your total compensation package, which includes short-term and long-term incentives as well as a comprehensive benefits offering. The total compensation will be determined based on individual skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
