Lifeguard Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lifeguard to join our team at the Astoria Aquatic Center. As a Lifeguard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patrons. • Prevent and respond to emergencies in the aquatic environment.
• Maintain constant vigilance of patrons in the facility.
• Provide emergency care and treatment as required.
• Enforce facility rules and regulations.
• Support facility cleaning tasks and maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and the public.

• Must be 16 years or older.
• Possession of or ability to pass an Ellis and Associates International Lifeguard Training Certification, including CPR & First Aid certification.
• Ability to physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard.
• Ability to pass a City background check.

• Experience lifeguarding or working in water-safety settings.
• Experience working with children and young adults.
• Competitive swimming experience.
• Experience teaching swim lessons and competitive swim techniques.

Employees must be able to physically perform all duties of the lifeguard role, including standing, sitting, walking, lifting, reaching, bending, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and crouching. Employees are required to communicate verbally, follow instructions and protocols, and hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees must remain alert and vigilant with the ability to see and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.
