Fleet Mechanic Job Description

The City of Cape Coral is seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team. As a Fleet Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on a variety of automotive and heavy equipment vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on automotive and heavy equipment vehicles
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and tire rotations
  • Overhaul and service assemblies and accessories, such as rear axles and hydraulic systems
  • Test vehicles and equipment to ensure repair effectiveness
  • Respond to road emergencies and perform repairs as needed
  • Perform record maintenance duties, including logging work and materials in the fleet computer system
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of combined automotive mechanic experience in gas, diesel, and heavy equipment service and repair
  • Valid state driver's license and ability to obtain a Florida CDL A driver's license within six months of hire/promotion
  • ASE certifications and other equivalent certifications
  • Fluent English language skills
