Key Responsibilities:
The Activities Director is responsible for maintaining a well-organized and varied program of activities that encourages residents to engage in enriching cultural, spiritual, physical, social, and intellectual pursuits.
- Deliver exceptional service to residents, families, and visitors.
- Communicate effectively with team members, families, and residents both verbally and in writing.
- Conduct regular assessments of resident interests and preferences to enhance the activity offerings.
- Prepare and update a monthly schedule of activities, ensuring timely communication of any changes.
- Collaborate with management to finalize and display the activity schedule.
- Utilize technology to maintain an online calendar of events.
- Ensure a full range of activities is available every day of the week.
- Drive community transportation as needed.
- Maintain a record of resident birthdays and send out greetings promptly.
- Work closely with team members to coordinate activities and programs.
- Participate in resident care planning by sharing observations with the Wellness Director.
- Keep detailed records of resident participation in activities.
- Post current activity schedules in common areas and distribute them to relevant staff.
- Attend monthly meetings with management to discuss resident feedback and agenda items.
- Maintain accurate records and staffing schedules.
- Document planned and executed activities for review and improvement.
- Ensure all team members involved in activities receive necessary training.
- Contribute to the budgeting process and monitor financial performance.
- Maintain attendance records for team meetings and events.
- Notify management of any schedule changes in advance.
- Accommodate special events and programs in work schedules.
- Adhere to all safety and emergency procedures.
- Demonstrate a commitment to working with the senior population.
- Exhibit creativity, enthusiasm, and a team-oriented attitude.
- Supervise team members and volunteers effectively.
- Foster a positive and engaging atmosphere for residents.
- Promote community values to residents, families, and staff.
- Associate degree in recreation or a related field, or equivalent experience in a senior adult setting.
- Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting and standing for extended periods.
