Continuous Improvement Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary role involves supporting the organization's Lean and Six-Sigma initiatives. This includes defining, designing, and executing continuous improvement programs while ensuring successful integration throughout the company. A key focus will be on fostering strong employee engagement and aligning improvement projects with overall business strategies. Responsibilities also include analyzing the effectiveness of improvement programs and results, as well as facilitating and coaching staff on continuous improvement efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Comply with safety protocols, adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is upheld. Report any conditions or practices that may negatively impact food safety, quality, or personnel safety to management.
2. Follow all safety policies and procedures diligently.
3. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
4. Collaborate directly with manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and agricultural operations to enhance the performance of underperforming resources.
5. Utilize knowledge of industrial engineering principles across various assignments and related fields.
6. Advocate for new initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and cost reduction.
7. Conduct studies on equipment utilization and capacity, providing actionable recommendations.
8. Lead the implementation of Continuous Flow Manufacturing (CFM) and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
9. Apply ergonomic principles to enhance working conditions in manufacturing settings and lead efforts to minimize equipment setup times.
10. Engage in other projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering is preferred.
2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a food processing environment, coupled with a strong mechanical background.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
1. Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
2. Capable of writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
3. Effective in presenting information in both individual and group settings.
4. Able to respond to inquiries from internal and external customers or vendors at all levels, including management.
5. Proficient in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, fractions, and ratios.
6. Familiar with basic algebra concepts.
7. Skilled in problem definition, data collection, fact establishment, and drawing valid conclusions. Able to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage several abstract and concrete variables.
8. Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as SAP.
9. Working knowledge of cost accounting, production information gathering, and production scheduling.
10. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
11. Willingness to travel up to 25-30%.
