Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Student to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a Pharmacy Student, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation of medications for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare IV admixtures and other extemporaneous compounds using aseptic technique and proper pharmaceutical procedures.
  • Stock and fill medication orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Enter ADR data into the computer system with precision and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Stay up-to-date on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility.
Requirements
  • Enrolled in good standing in an accredited College of Pharmacy or graduate who has successfully passed the NABP Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination.
  • Experience working with standard Pharmacy and office equipment.
  • Current Pharmacy Intern Permit from the State Board of Pharmacy, permitted to practice as a pharmacy intern by the Board of Pharmacy in the state of practice.
  • Strong computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.

The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases. There is potential to encounter hazardous medications and hazardous waste.
